As our Olympians return home this week, some to glory and some with bitter disappointment, and our Para-Olympians start their own campaign, Voices of Kwinana’s memory is turned to our own local sporting success.
On the 27th of November 1976, two great teams took to the basketball court, the ‘American’ All Stars vs the Kwinana Metropolitan Representatives. Comprised of men employed at a variety of local businesses, community honour was on the line, as well as the prize of $60.00 worth of car seat covers courtesy of Eagle W.Col Coogee for Fairest and Best.
Needless to say, our men were fired up and the competition was fierce!
Kitted out in t-shirt’s courtesy of Pinocchio’s Nightclub, (now the Capitol Bar, Murray Street, Perth) the teams were as follows:
